Amazing Italian design and fabrication
Artemide’s Edge collection was created by an Italian designer named Alessandro Mendini, in 2004. The idea behind this collection was to design an interesting-looking light, that could be attached both to walls and ceilings, and which would create an optical illusion of a cube coming out of a wall.
Deceptively simple
Sometimes design can be simple. Take this lamp for instance. A cube almost has to be the simplest design to come up with for a lamp. However, by chopping off one of the tips and making it look as it is hidden in the wall, a new form is created, which appeals to one’s imagination.
Created for Everywhere
Artemide Edge 30 comes with an IP65 certificate, which means it is suited for interior and exterior use. Another advantage is the fact you can choose to use it whether as a ceiling light or a wall light. It’s these options which make the Edge a true all-rounder.
Technical Details
As far as materials go, it is made of thermoplastic material, which increases the plastic endurance against the heat of the light bulb. It is medium sized – 43x43x48,5cm, and it uses the E27 light bulbs of 23W, which are easily replaced by unscrewing the white top of the cube.
